Northwest Health Medical Centre provides iron infusion treatments for patients with low iron levels.
What is an Iron Infusion?
An iron infusion is a procedure where an iron-containing medication is administered directly into the bloodstream via a drip. The infusion allows iron to circulate efficiently through the body and reach organs that need iron to function properly. The procedure itself usually takes around one hour.
Why might you need an Iron Infusion?
Iron infusions are used to treat:
- Iron deficiency anaemia.
- Iron deficiency without anaemia.
They are an effective way to rapidly restore iron levels, particularly when oral iron supplements are ineffective or not tolerated.
